L’école participe à l’inégalité des sexes, selon le Conseil du statut de la femme (Schools Contribute to Gender Inequality, says the Council on the Status of Women), Patricia Cloutier, Le Soleil, 2016-12-07
The Quebec Council on the Status of Women recommends a complete revision of the Ethics and Religious Culture (ERC) program which started in 2008 and replaced the previous religious program. According to the CSW, the ERC program presents sexist religious ideas as valid ethical positions, on an equal footing with other modes of thought. The CSW recommends removing the religious culture part of the program and putting it into history courses.
This suggestion is in line with a recent petition signed by more than 5000 persons and presented Tuesday to the National Assembly in Quebec City by the PQ leader Jean-François Lisée, asking that the religious culture part be withdrawn from ERC because it promotes religion and is incompatible with secular schools.
