[…] which requested the abolition of the position of Canadian representative on combatting Islamophobia. This petition was initiated by Nadia El-Mabrouk, president of the Rassemblement pour la laïcité (RPL, or Alliance for Secularism), following the appointment of Ms. Amira Elghawaby to that position.
The negative response of Mr. Chiang, published on the petition website, is a litany of buzzwords, some meaningless, some ill-defined and tendentious. It is expressed in a language which we might call trudeau-ese.
Mr. Chiang’s use of hate crime statistics is dishonest. […] He thus gives the impression that Muslims are particularly targeted. This confusion between the concepts of “sex” and “gender” undermines women’s rights (rights conferred on the basis of biological sex and not social “sex”) […]
The movement colloquially known as “wokism” greatly resembles a religion, with its unfalsifiable dogma (ubiquitous racism), its original sin (whiteness), the moral arrogance of the faithful, its magical thinking (gender identity), its puritanism, its rites, its martyrs, etc. Some observers even consider it to be literally a new religion. We will examine these questions.
