Simon Parcher has been a card-carrying Humanist since 1992. He served as President of the Humanist Association of Ottawa in the 1990s and is currently President of the Humanist Canada and Canadian Humanist Publications. CHP publishes Humanist Perspectives Magazine.
Simon holds a college diploma in computer science and a university degree in philosophy and sociology-anthropology. The degree is useful in his employment at Statistics Canada but is also a foundation for life-long learning in the many subjects that contribute to humanist and naturalist philosophy.
Simon is an active Toastmaster and was District Governor of the 3500-member Toastmasters District 61, in 2007-2008. Toastmasters International helps its members develop public speaking and leadership skills. Simon has put these skills to use as a leader in humanism and hopes to have many more opportunities to do so in the future.
